Story by Whitney Jackson

Listen up, Bemidji folk! On Saturday, September 19th, the Great Northern Radio Show will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Bemidji State University Bangsberg Theater. Jam packed with music, sketches and storytelling, performers joining host Aaron Brown will include: American Scarecrows, Cory Medina, Thomas X, Berit Dybing and the comedy of Rob Fairbanks and Jon Roberts.

“The point of the show,” said Aaron Brown, producer and host of the Great Northern Radio Show, “is to bring fun and variety with good comedy and music to local towns. Some might compare it to “Prairie Home Companion,” but I see it as a Northern Minnesota all-human Muppet Show.”
Brown’s idols from his early days include the comedy of Johnny Carson, Dave Letterman, and Conan O’Brien. He now enjoys his time broadcasting, something he feels is able to bring hope and humor to people, not just news and weather.
